If you really want to run DBAN (why?), do you see any message telling you to press a key when you boot from the DBAN image? Have you set your PC to boot from the optical drive?
It sounds like you're either booting the wrong device, or DBAN's boot manager is returning you to your local Windows installation.
But as above, you don't need DBAN.0 -

The one at the start of DBAN?
i.e. the one where you type your command.
p.s you don't need DBAN, just reinstall.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

You don't need to install an OS to "open the door" for other OSes. Just install the OS(es) you want in the first place.0 -
Trouble is on one Win7 PC despite having all the latest AV/Defender gadgets as soon as it hooked up to the Internet, dead. Sorry to be an unhelpful/playfull/trollist, but a Linux CD with Gparted was the answer.0

You don't need to install Linux to use GParted. There's a live version here:
http://gparted.org/livecd.php
Gparted is the most reliable partion tool I've used, so it's a great idea to use it, but you don't need to install Linux to do so.0 -
I booted Gparted from a Linux Live rescue CD ???0

So why on earth did you need to "install a Linux distro over the entire disk to open the doors for another OS"?! You could have just used the GParted live CD and reinstalled Windows. There was no need to install Linux on your computer first.0 -
Surprise, Surprise, after another Windows security foul-up with associated junk, may come as a forum shock !!!, reinstalling Windows was off the option list in my case.0
