Is Sedona more beautiful than Yosemite? Yosemite is in my top 5 most beautiful places , but if Sedona is even better I will put it on my list of must see places for future hols.

That's a tough question Sheel - I haven't done Yosemite and it does look beautiful. But I have done New England, loads around California, Nevada, Utah etc and Maui and it is still at the top of my list (or very, very near the top at least).

I will try to master this photo on t'internet thingy and see if I can post a piccie for you...I know I have a photobucket account somewhere...

If you're using Photobucket, it has an option to 'resize' them - I use the one which is sized for forums&messageboards. and because they're linked, you don't need to edit the links again

For us Yosemite and Bryce Canyon are the top two places for jaw dropping scenery. Bryce for the instantaneous B***** H***!!!!!!, Yosemite for the hiking....but Bryce is not on the itinary so thats something to pencil in for next time!

Calico???? Come on folks, MTC's inlaws are down around Mesa/Phoenix. What are the chances they are driving 400+ miles to Calico - only over 100 miles from LA! unless they plan to drop you off in SD on the way home as its less than 200 miles from calico to SD. There isn't a Calico mark 2 down Az way that i don't know about is there??

and if they are planning that sort of trip, they might be plannning on going by Palm Springs so might need a re-think on your trip inland from San Diego, so I think you need to get a rough idea of which direction they plan on taking you.

Meteor crater doesn't get that good a review.

I decided not to visit last time we were there

Are we relying on review sites now to advise people where might be worth visiting or not rather than first hand experience?

The main gripe people have with Meteor crator is the cost, which granted, is a lot compared to the limitless visits available in he region using the "cheap" National Parks pass system.

We are on a money saving site, but occasionally you have ot pay to see things you will never see elsewhere.

Similarily, the cost to visit Antelope Canyon, outside Page, just about the most famous slot canyon in the world is out of character to the rest of the SW. Again, it is under private ownership (native Indians) and hence the cost.

With Page not on the agenda, pop into either the Venetian or Caesars and go to the Peter Lik gallery. Ask to see "Ghost" in one of the private viewing rooms! Wow! (as are a lot of his other works)

It was a good suggestion, I was more sort of pointing out that he mentioned his in-laws were planning on taking the familly to a Ghost town and the chances of it being Calico are very slim given their location, but by some chance it is Calico then a re-think of the days after SD may be in order as the in-laws could quite possibly be plannig on going via Palm springs
