Flight cancellations and delas from Manchester 4th March

Can anybody help me understand if I am due compensation. I was travelling on a Lufthansa flight to Munich from Manchester on 4th March. We boarded the plane late and then sat on the plane for 5 hours, apparently waiting for the de icing equipment, as it was snowing. The flight was then cancelled as the crew had run out of hours. My understanding is that Manchester airport are claiming it is the airline and suppliers of de icing equipment's fault, and that the airlines are not claiming any responsibility. I was then rescheduled to fly the following day. Thanks!
