Weddings cost a small fortune today, and I have been trying to encourage my son and future dil to simply get married abroad and combine with a holiday. They have been engaged for ages and are saving for a deposit. The two kids do not help with the saving lol.
That said, I can hardly speak as we had a nice white wedding with the trimmings, just it wasn't so disproportionately expensive then (and my father paid, about the only thing he was good for).
At one stage my dd and her boyfriend were considering moving to the Yorkshire area where his mum lives, they would have more chance of buying a house there, the incredible thing is that a house equivalent to ours is 17 - 20% of the price of ours up there
Same guy didn't attend our nehews wedding in the 90's working out what it would cost him, his wife and 2 sons to get suited and booted, 2 nights hotel and travelling costs. He bought them a washing machine and tumble dryer and took them for a meal!0 -

Evening all
Watched Back in time for the weekend and they were talking about how we will live in the future and mentioned the book The Life - Changing Magic Of Tidying.
Sounded a bit ott but I ordered the book and I must say it makes a lot of sense.
It's about only owning items you love (so I suppose stashes are allowed).
Mhoc will be amused that one of the responses was 'I lost my husband now the house is tidy'.
It is really a technique designed for the small living spaces in Japan but I am going to give it a try. Strangely enough my sister was saying tonight it was the focus of her monthly Happiness Course ( Supporting a friend's new venture).
I would put it as a 'must' read, even if you don't follow it its very interesting.
Hope every one is well. Mr Ted tried to post his slideshow last night TM but it didn't work:( Will have to just put my favourite spa photos up instead.
