Right - so, would I be wrong in thinking that 16degrees is too cold ?

What ever your comfortable with is the right temperature.
  • Don't have my thermometer/humidity sensor in here right now as we are monitoring our bedroom to make sure our TRV is set appropriately before our new baby arrives but...generally between 20-21C, which is in line with our main thermostat in the hallway which we have set to 20.5C from 8:30am until 11pm when it's set to a fallback temp of 17C overnight (temperature never drops that low however).

It used to creep a bit higher before we got our TRV adjusted to the right setting. It's well worth using a second thermometer in each room and tweaking your TRVs to keep each room to the desired temperature relative to the main thermostat.
  • I don't know - I'm not in the living room at the moment and I don't believe in heating a room I'm not using.

Do you turn each radiator on and off as you leave/enter a room?

    A simple question ..

Perhaps it's not such a simple question, it's currently 18.3c at floor level and 24.4c at ceiling height in my living room

No, I only use the central heating for an hour or so morning and evening and then use an individual heater in the living room for the rest of the day when I need it.

28c last night. And in a pair of shorts and t shirt!
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Our house is a steady 20.9 degrees C whenever we are in (except when we're in bed when the heating goes off). The combined energy bill comes to £70 per month for a 4 bed house which isn't too bad at all really. I don't see any point in freezing

    Usually around 20/21°C.

Once worked with a woman who had her stat set at 33°C.
