Normally run my living room between 17C and 19C. The rest of the bungalow can range between 10C and 13C in late autumn, winter and early spring (no heating, just a dehumidifier). I will use a fan heater in the kitchen and bedroom on very cold days. My electric bill (no gas) comes in at approx £320-£350 / year. I may spend £40 on two bags of smokeless coal or £80 if it's a cold winter.

We have a largish 3 bed semi and our dual fuel bill is £31 per month - combined - that's £360 pa
We have a dehumidifier as well - which I find, does warm the whole house up for some reason. I am guessing that dry air holds heat better than damp air ??
We run our gas central heating about an hour a day and we both have a gas heated shower every day
We run a gas fire in the living room on cold days (all day if needed) on low
Power can still be cheap - if you use it carefully....

My phone says it's 24c in here and I'm still freezing! I've got a t-shirt and jumper on with my fleece dressing gown on top and I'm still cold. :(

Our thermostat is only set to 16 but it's by the front door where it's always cold so it's always warmer than that.

Currently 18C (or 18.1C according to my Lidl thermometer).

That's also what the thermostat in the hall is set to (and I've got the hall door open at the moment).
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

14.8 degrees, I have lots of layers (5) on, and I don't feel the cold. You can't beat a lambswool pullover next to the body & I got mine from a charity shop for £1.

I know it's below the recommended government room temperature, never done me no harm and it kills the Bacteria & Bugs. I never get no winter colds or ailments :)
My heating bills are low which is an added benefit:EasterBun

its 24c at the moment as we sit around this candle that keeps us all warm, i may light it if it gets colder this winter.:)
  • I have no idea of temp as no thermostat. Heating is on for a couple of hours in the evening and I generally wear a few layers the rest of the time. Hot water bottle if it's really cold & I'm in during the day. If my double glazing wasn't so old that you can feel the breeze coming through then I doubt I'd need heating at all unless absolutely freezing outside. Terraced houses do have some benefits!
