I put the measuring spoon in a cup of boiling water for a minute before hand- the syrup runs off - also if you need more - I just stick it back in cup before next spoonful - always comes clean off0

There I was scrolling down waiting for a post I could agree with - and there you were
I dont weigh anything when cooking meals. Only weigh roughly for cakes - but I dont make them very often anyway as my luverly daughter has learnt how to bake - yipppeeeeeeeeSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I weigh it out in the scales after weighing out the fat. I use a spoon warmed in boiling water.
Makes it easier to clean up afterwards.

I do this too and use one tablespoon for an ounce.0 -
if you buy the syrup in glass jars it's easy to heat the jar in the micro then the syrup will pour easily, pour it on to other ingredients in your weighing scales pan to keep it clean also making sure you have it all in your mixture not stuck to the scales0

I do the same as culpepper. Processor bowl or mixing bowl straight on the scales, then spoon syrup in until its the right weight. That way you can lick as much as you like from the spoon afterwards!0

Use the spoon method. Although I just use one huge spoon. I "weigh" butter like this too, one big spoon is 2oz.It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0

Not sure if this is in the right place, but here goes....
Does anyone have any tips on stopping treacle sticking to the spoon when you're measuring it out?
I always end up with it up to my elbows !!!0 -
I've found that, you can either heat the spoon first (under hot water) and the tracle should just slip off, or dip your spoon in flour so that the treacle does not stick!
