There is an EU-wide small claims process:

Obviously only of use while we're still in the EU...

The key question remains whether the OP has proof of posting.

    The OP has tracking information.
RM have acknowledged that they have lost the parcel.
There seems to be no dispute that the parcel was posted.

Regarding your return from Order No: ???????, I've checked our records and your return hasn't been processed yet. Our returns department will submit your refund once the returned item has been processed. You should receive your refund 2 to 3 business days after processing is complete. Please note this doesn't include your bank's processing time.

Please wait until 25th Feb, 2016, if you still do not receive any email confirmation then please write back to us and we will assist you accordingly.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,

    Best Regards,

they seem to have issues with their return department at the moment.

I've returned 3 items, 3 separate parcels, delivered to them on 2 separate days over a week and not one has been processed a week later.

sent a snotty email demanding a refund and they have refunded them all, just waiting for my 3 x courier fees to be refunded now as the only option was to self return.

Why send a snotty email - you do realise that that they would have done the same thing, in this case refund you, if you had sent a decent email just saying 'My returns don't seem to have been processed, could you check it out please?'

I used to work in customer services, thankfully not anymore. I was always amazed at how nasty people could be to someone they have never met, over a situation they haven't had anything to do with and at the same time expecting/demanding great service.

It's funny though, I have always had carrier fees refunded to me by Amazon as soon as I send the package, possibly because I'm actually nice to people when communicating rather than being 'snotty' and 'demanding'! :)

Chargeback is not restricted to just Visa debit cards.

Mastercard, and probably others, are also covered.

    See MSE's Chargeback article.
  • You'll have to file a chargeback claim with your bank (that's the most direct route).

I had the exact same thing happen to me with Amazon, and faced similar emails - there's no point trying to reason with the CIS email address as they'll just fob you off.

You could go to court but they'll be a lot more difficult. You'll have to show your bank that you followed Amazon's return procedures.
