I don't think you can blame the pigeons for your neighbour not being an individual you get on well with. That's down to a clash of personalities.

Personally, I don't think it's all one-way, reading that post.

I suspect they have a well defined flight path. If it is over your garden then it is probably a problem. Personally I don't think I could bear the constant cooing, but that's just me.

I do think it could put off buyers in the future.

We have bird feeders in our garden as we have lots of wild birds, chap across the road has a pigeon loft and his birds were for ever in our garden eating our wild bird food, I would have shot the lot if only I could have done, we have had to buy pigeon proof feeders otherwise they were emptying them in a few hours.

I did think of borrowing a big cat from a zoo.:D

Thanks for all these replies. I'm not surprised at all. I grew up living next door to someone with pigeons. My business partner and I have a small development of 8 plots. We can only build one at a time. Sold one. A guy who wAnts to keep pigeons wants to buy the second and wants to part ex his house. Partner can only see short term gain. I see we'll have major problems selling the rest. Now I've told him. Two estate agents have told him and now you have all told him. Thank you

We had a house whose small garden backed onto the garden of someone with a pigeon loft. They were a bit messy until we removed our TV ariel, but no problem afterwards.
I'd be more reluctant to move back to an area where there are lots of elderberry bushes - the disgusting purple mess in autumn!! I think elderberry must act as an avian laxative.

Mmm. If he hadn't told you about the pigeons, you'd be none the wiser until he'd moved in - and there'd not be a single thing you could do about it, short of having put a restrictive covenant onto the plots.

    No don't do it

I lived next door to a pigeon fancier for nearly 30 years, tried on many occasions to sell but no-one wanted to buy it for that reason.

Finally sold the house to his son.

Not unless it was an extra special house at a super low price and perfect in every other way except that .... and the pigeon owner looked over 90 years old.
