Nic - as I am morally bankrupt and lost my scruples several years ago then yes I do want a refund plus compensation.
Sorry Justice I obviously didn't make things clear - we didn't stay in a hotel overnight and they didn't fly us back the next day - it was the same day. I was refunded the cost of six seats.
Anyway it sounds as though I can't claim both but thanks for your help and advice - much appreciated.
1st. The flight details you gave were for the outward journey not the return journey. Lets deal with the outward journey first. This arrived in Menorca over 3 hours late. If the delay was not due to extra ordinary circumstances you will be due 6 x 250 euro each.
2nd. Your return journey was delayed more than 11 hours and you eventually flew back the same day with Thomas cook on a spare plane. You will again be due compensation if this was not due to an extra ordinary circumstance so that could be another 6 x 250 euros each.
Now Thomas cook wouldn't give you a flight refund if they flew you home are you not sure that this could be compensation for your return delay?
