The amount of mocking going on this thread by seasoned MSEs is quite appalling... even worse is the number of thanks that these replies are getting.0

I have to agree. A large reason of this forum is to assist those without a great deal of financial acumen but time and time again it wanders into bullying territory. Just because not everyone is savvy doesn't give an excuse to mock.0 -

If the branch staff make the decision, they would consult the credit report first. If the computer makes the decision, it will consult the credit report first.
How exactly has being honest affected them whatsoever? Let alone made them "off their head"? Your implied recommendation that they lie in order to get a current account makes you "off your head" if anything...Carnival789 wrote: »The amount of mocking going on this thread by seasoned MSEs is quite appalling... even worse is the number of thanks that these replies are getting.
It's the norm on this website now, it's why I rarely post here nowadays. What's amusing however is that the "experts" are the stupid ones on the thread! Telling a poster to lie to a bank about the number of accounts elsewhere is ridiculous given the fact they have access to your credit report so can find out the truth themselves...0 -
a little bit harsh to zak, i suggest..
the point is that demonstrating to a bank that you are successfully taking advantage of deals from other banks doesn't help your cause. TSB, like all banks, are looking for customers that they can cross-sell other, profitable, products to.
but it sounds as though you already have an account with them, that you wish to upgrade, is that right zak?0 -

No, the point made was it harmed their cause - a very different thing.
Banks are looking for customers they can make a profit from, low-paid branch staff aren't. Why they would care what you want the account for (as long as it was legal and within the banks T&Cs) I have no idea.
In fact, when I opened my TSB accounts (I had to do it in branch for a reason I don't remember) the staff member opening them assumed I was doing it to use them as savings accounts, then when I confirmed that was the reason, she said it was a smart decision...0 -

My post simply said to the OP that there was no point in taking statements in for all his accounts as the credit search would pick all this up. I wasn't mocking at all. I did smile reading it but certainly not mocking the OP and he clearly doesn't meet the TSB criteria (for whatever reason) he is best to leave if for six months and try again. We have all had the odd rejection. Lloyds never issue me with a contactless card but I don't care I just use all my others!0 -
TSB Cash Account is a basic current account, login online and upgrade http://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/cash-account/SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

That's interesting as I am sure you are right that they can't see the actually bank name but do you think they share them within a group, say Lloyds and Halifax and HSBC and FD?0
