Paypal have closed the claim stating that 'items delivered or picked up in person are not eligible for protection'.

I thought you sent a gift payment to him for £6? In which case it isn't eligible for a claim. Usually it will allow you to open one and they will close it within 21 days.

So PayPal does not always favour the buyer even though I have proof of postage etc.

Why do you have proof of postage? Have you sent the item back?

It wasn't a gift payment, just a normal payment so he would have had to pay the fees and not me.

Sorry, I meant proof of postage that he sent, the wrapping and tracking etc that the item came in. So not proof of postage in the traditional sense, rather proof that he sent it in the post to me.
  • You got the item for a bargain price and left negative feedback? If you were disappointed in the conduct of the postage arrangement, why not leave only neutral feedback and postage DSR low?

Because the seller was dishonest and the item should have bern £6 cheaper.

    Dishonest people deserve negs!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Precisely, the seller mislead me to believe the item would cost an extra £6 to post, so I paid in good faith and then he still sent it 2nd class wrapped in a bin liner. I paid £10.89 in postage for an item that cost £3.90 to post and next to nothing for a bin liner.

And now he has lied to paypal, obviously telling them I collected in person I feel the neg is even more warranted than it was before.

I did leave low stars as well.

I thought you were only charging back the £6 additional payment you sent? in which case the item it related to is immaterial and posting or collecting the item would make no difference at all to paypal.

I only raised a claim for the £6, the item payment itself was not referenced in any correspondence from me to paypal at all.

Ah that explains it. The £6 payment was for an intangible item, post upgrade. Therefore it isn't eligible for protection, that is why you lost.

See, that makes sense, the paypal explanation did not.

If paypal had told me that in the first place instead of saying it was because the item was picked up or collected it would have been so much easier.
