Don't reply to the text. How did he get your mobile number?

If you sell on your buying ID, block his user ID and email on your BBL.

Not replying to the text. I sent it to him as I wanted more pictures of the item and he sent it that way. It's an old phone that I use for spam anyway so not fussed about that.

I don't sell on ebay so no worries there.

ATEOTD I've got my item, I'm happy with the item so I'm not going to let a dispute for £6 ruin my week. I've got more important things to think about so if I don't get it back through paypal I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Perhaps the £6 was a taxi fare or something, to get to the post office in time? That would seem reasonable to me, although why he wouldn't just explain something like that is beyond me!

I don't think it would be reasonable to anyone else. I certainly would not be happy paying taxi fares when all I wanted to do was pay to have it sent 1st class rather than 2nd, there is no indication that OP asked for it to be sent earlier as well.

According to the OP's account, the £6 surcharge was explicitly for posting it that day, rather than by First Class post, in which case a £6 taxi fare may be entirely reasonable.

He said he can go to the post office if I paid the surcharge, but I have to reply quick as it shuts at 5pm. This was at 4:45pm.

Well unless the seller has a taxi rank outside of his house, then it would be a very slim chance of him waiting for a reply from the buyer, then having time to call the taxi firm and all of it happening 15 min before post office closes. Btw, do most post offices not close at 5.30pm?

Paypal have closed the claim stating that 'items delivered or picked up in person are not eligible for protection'.

Not sure where they got that from, clearly the seller has lied to them, just surprised they took his word for it and closed the case without asking for more info or proof from me first.

So PayPal does not always favour the buyer even though I have proof of postage etc.

Not going to get too hang up on it as it was only £6 but very annoying nonetheless.

My post office is open 6am til 10pm at night being it's in the local off license/newspaper shop

I would but I'm here with 2 small kids (stay at home dad) so making a phone call is not that easy!

I have contacted them via email and if that does not bear any fruit I'm not going to waste any more time on it. Will just be wary of sending additional payments in future, I don't buy on ebay very often , but I did have a funny feeling from the start about this one.
