Trouble with letting agent - ending periodic tenancy
Comments
-
Does your joint tenant want to stay just an extra month? Or longer term? Might she be able to find a new sharer and sign a new joint tenancy agreeement (subject to LL approving the new tenant)?0

It was very tame tbh. No inappropriate language, no personal attacks or abuse. Very strange. All I did was point out that the comment that preceded it was in fact an utter nonsense.
I don't understand why it was removed, because my comment that was not removed was in fact a load of rubbish. So a comment which is untrue remains and a comment which was true is removed.
I wonder who could have reported it....
A real mystery
I'll send a messenger to baker street....

She would probably like to stay for a longer term, but she is aware that it is very difficult to find a new sharer (we spent 4 weeks trying to find a new tenant to replace me, but were unsuccessful). Therefore she hopes that the landlord will agree to let her stay for one more month while she looks for a new place to live.
Do you think that's likely to happen?0 -

4 weeks? Did you look at spareroom.co.uk ?0 -
Seems unlikely. Do you think that's likely to happen?
* cannot replace you while she's there
* only gets half rent
* as opposed to charging double rent
Hmmmm....
Worth asking of course.0 -

Yes, I placed an add on the spareroom website and many others. We had 11 viewings. One girl was ready to take the room but after reference checks the agency asked her to provide a guarantor which she was unable to do.
Oh I see, so the issue is you decided that she would be a tenant, not a lodger.
That may explain why you've struggled.
You should've just rented her the room on a lodger basis.0 -

The attitude on this forum is disgraceful.
Well both comments you refer to were factually correct, the first one being a *little* stronger so I can understand why that got pulled.
However, neither were directed at a specific person, only in the sense that they questioned the validity of previous comments.
In fact, I take offence that you accuse me of a personal attack and insult when there is now no evidence for others on which to judge that accusation. You have effectively publically denigrated me to the rest of the forum but prevented others from forming their own opinion. I personally find such actions disgraceful.
Thankyou for your valued contribution to the forum.0 -

More comments being removed. (including mine which was definitely not offensive in the slightest)0
