Thanks everyone!
I liked the mashed potato idea so I bought a M&S cottage pie last night and had it with half a tin of beans. It was really lovely and comforting.0 -

I always have a tin of soup by me for such times, but once I feel like cooking I make a corn chowder, with either bacon pieces of smoked salmon (I always have smoked salmon in the freezer, as I buy it when it's reduced)

jacket potato with anything you feel like (sometimes just butter, salt & pepper)0 -

Chicken soup. Made with bone in chicken, carrots, celery, onions and stock. Once cooked, shred the chicken and return to the pan. More like a stew than a soup but really yummy.

I also am recovering from the evil virus too. (Two weeks I have been unwell) My mum told me to make mashed potato and egg. But I didn't feel well enough to make it and my hubby can't peel potatoes! Luckily I had homemade soups in the freezer which I had with some bread. For breAkfast I had my usual porridge with blueberries and banana ( but smaller portions of everything. ( this is all I ate for the first three days after not eating for 24 hours due to vomiting).
Day four, I had jacket potato and beans.
Day five, we had mushroom risotto ( Lloyd Grossman) and salmon
Day six, cooked chicken (had frozen once cooked) and salad
Day seven, chicken pie ( normally I wouldn't eat this but hubby was having to cook, so I didn't complain.
Day eight, pasta and homemade meat sauce ( I cooked )
Day nine, curry and rice ( I tried to go back to work and got sent home after two hours) hubby cooked again.
I find it helps to have some emergency foods in the freezer for such times. Things that hubby can defrost and make without much effort if I am unwell.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Kevie, I'm glad to hear you have had a meal. When I'm not feeling up to cooking (can't say ill as recently I'll been very well) I want something simple to prepare so I just cook some pasta, then stir through a simple jarred pasta sauce and re-warm. Then I can eat a bit, put the rest in the fridge and have a bit warmed or ambient when I feel like a bite and don't have to cook again. At present, with my husband away from home, I'm trying to run don the freezer, but struggling to feel like eating in the evening. Longing to do this pasta dish, but for me that will be a treat when I've cleared the freezer. SinceI feel very well, when I get to have this dish I'll jolly it up with herbs, spices and perhaps a chopped chilli, wouldn't suggest a chilli for you though, yet!“And all shall be well. Mine is a variation on this, mashed potato with grated cheese mixed in. It's still something I make as a sort of comfort meal when anything else feels like too much effort2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
