    .. Well just called them.

The nice lady asked if this was my 'Main bank account' -- I replied honestly and said no.

She said the direct debits setup don't appear to be valid for the £4 reward. These are simply Tesco savers for a quid each (4 of them).

Anyone else using Tesco saver DDs to "meet" the DD requirement?
I didn't get the reward paid in February - my email said I had failed on the 4DDs part. I called to query that and the problem was that I had not paid out 4 DDs AFTER the date I enrolled in the scheme. So that almost made sense. I expect to get the February reward around the 20th of March.

... I shall wait to see on my statement date whether I get the reward. If not, no great shakes I'm sure there's other freebies to be had elsewhere. Always handy for switching account.
If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)
  • Good morning I signed up for the rewards scheme on 2nd of March & have met all the criteria. Just called customer services & they said I won't get the reward for March until the end of April
Don't know why it takes so long!

You'll get it every month from April onwards, provided you have met the pre-requisites in the previous month. It's free money and to moan about the payment date is a bit ungrateful.
  • I received the £5 reward on my Halifax account yesterday. I opened the Halifax account after the co op account. I just wondered why it would take so long? I'm not ungrateful at all, I love free money ;)

You "received" it today, although it will be statemented as yesterday.
although I opened the Halifax account after the co op account.
When you opened the account is irrelevant. The Halifax T&Cs state they'll pay you
...by the second working day of the following calendar month.
    Whereas the Co-op T&Cs state...
Your Everyday Rewards are paid into your nominated account on or before the last working day of the month after you have earned them
In other words, it is what it is.
  • Indeed it is

I find the co OP internet banking site hard work.

Be careful of setting up payments in advance which aren't DDs or SOs - they don't seem to show up on your internet banking anywhere as payments to go out and I was told if you wanted to cancel one you had to ring them up.

If you want to operate it as a main account it's really quite useful to be able to monitor what payments you have scheduled and being able to cancel them beforehand if your plans changed.

I have never come across that with any other bank - they all have manage scheduled payments or view and cancel payments functions. But the co OP doesn't seem to - I couldn't find it and their help desk said there wasn't one.
