Some cards charge 1% per month, Tesco, MBNA, plus others no doubt.
Barclaycard charge 2.25%.
Depending on who you're applying with, 2 cards can actually be cheaper than 1.0 -
Geoff how many applications for credit have you made now?
Given that you've no credit history, the only cards likely to accept you will be subprime ones, usually with low limits of £1-200.
You would also likely fail due to affordability. £6k on a £17k salary and with no credit history? No chance.
Have you tried obtaining quotes from cheaper trades persons? Other than that, all you can do is probably what you've been doing your entire life - budget and save for it.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
