0% credit cards

I`ve tried to get a few 0% credit cards, that will give me £5,900. Iv`e never owned a credit card before, something I`m proud of but I have to repair my roof. As it`s not storm damage/act of god, I have to deal with it. My building society that has my mortgage, wont give me the finances or put it on the mortgage I have with them because I didn`t pass their mortgage calculator. I`m guessing that it`s because of my income, that I canno`t get the amount I need on a 0% credit card.
Is there anything I can do about this. I seriously don`t want to go down the loan route with high interest. My income is £17,000 pa.

It sounds as if your lack of credit history and also income could be the problem.
What have you applied for to date?0 -
Getting £6K at 0% on a first card is pretty unlikely. Have you tried your bank for a loan ?0

I applied for a Nationwide c/c recently and it gave me the credit limit I would be offered after completing a soft search. It may be worth trying them to see how much you would be offered.
Personally I have found Barclaycard & MBNA are the most generous with their limits.
You may be able to get 2 cards with 2 different providers.0 -
I've applied for the above, without success.0

Because I always prefer to live within my means without support. Way I was bought up.0

I've tried and it's not enough. If I did go for two cards, it would be too much for me to pay off each month.0
