    On a scale of what?

Barclaycard uses Experian score - but doesn't give any account data. Maximum of 999.

    Rubbish.

Barclaycard may well use Experian for credit history and data, but they won't see the so called 'credit score' number that Experian make up. That's only generated by Experian to con vulnerable people into paying money so they can try to improve it.

    Did you read the thread?

It is useful if you want to avoid looking stupid!

The discussion was about the free credit score which Barclaycard provides to cardholders who sign up. It was nothing to do with which CRA Barclaycard uses.

Perhaps you should do some research yourself before flaming others; Barclaycard let you see the random number generated by experian, this is NOT your personal credit score as no such thing exists.

I'm not sure where that came from either. It has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. I didn't say it was a 'personal' credit score - that's a product of your imagination.

Of course credit scores exist. They exist because CRAs create them and sell or give them to people. What they are worth is another issue.

So we have a poster who states that his score drops to zero, someone else asks what that is out of. I explain briefly where the score comes from and that it is out of 999. Then people unwilling to read the thread dive in with irrelevant attacks.

I wonder why I usually avoid credit score threads!

You shouldn't count on being able to get credit any time soon...

Have you looked at you credit file with one of the CRAs, such as Noddle or Clearscore? That should tell you why Barclaycard/Experian have estimated you're so uncreditworthy.

Do you have CIFAS markers against your name perhaps?

  • Even when I was in bankruptcy I wasn't that low. Although if you're under either AP markers or DMP you aren't getting credit any time soon anyway - so does it matter if it's 0 or the 78 that I had at one point?

Have you been applying for more credit? Searches + AP markers will go some way to explaining why you seem to be on 0

Never had any problems in last year getting credit.
Earlier this year remortgaged house and borrowed extra money for extn on house.
Applied and got a American Express platinum cashback card in May with a 5k limit.

Not sure why barclaycard record me as low, my 8.5k limit with them was raised in June to 12k....however balance on that over last 18 months has never been above 3k

Only blip on finances recently was when I switched bank accounts and that caused a missed payment to my O2 mobile phone account.

It isn't Barclaycard providing this data or recording you as "low" the number is provided purely by Experian and nothing to do with Barclaycard.

When was the last time you checked your report from all three credit agencies?. If you haven't done it this year i would recommend getting a report from each to make sure everything is correct.
