As above the bank may well have added a mortality flag on your accounts and it may stop you getting products elsewhere if they do not remove it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

I don't really understand why that's funny?
That's what it's called, a mortality flag or indicator. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
It may of course have been a threat. Just that the bank isn't terribly good at them.0

To whom was the letter addressed? It was just a generic letter from the bank informing my next of kin that a loan i gad taken out a few years ago would remain the same as far as payment were concerned. Obviously i am going to have to contact them to assure them of my continued existance lol.
Im pretty certain ill get hit with the glitch in the system excuse .
I'm quite surprised (but I may just be naive) that a bank would write to a next-of-kin about continuing payments for a loan for someone who they think is dead without sight of a death certificate.
If it was me, I wouldn't have been posting on MSE 'lol-ing', I'd have been on to the bank first thing.0 -
I do remember poss late last year or early this year something on TV about someone who was classed the same and just to warn you it from what I understood took MONTHS to sort out and caused a LOT of problems for the person so if true not something to be taken lightly0

Log every visit to branch, every phone call, whether you made calls on mobile or landline, any costs such as petrol and parking fees to go to branch etc and mention distress and inconvenience a LOT.0

TBH, I was quite surprised that the first half-dozen or so replies were flippant, although that may be because of the OP's jokey posting style.I do remember poss late last year or early this year something on TV about someone who was classed the same and just to warn you it from what I understood took MONTHS to sort out and caused a LOT of problems for the person so if true not something to be taken lightly0 -

I agree but erring on the side of caution at least I have put the warning that if true {and lets face it with posts on these forums it can be hard to tell} the OP COULD have some major problems over the next few months trying to get the problem sorted.:(0 -
Im sorry if i came across jokey , but i had an idea a fair bit of mirth would be created by the post , so sort of got in there first , my daughter was a bit confused and upset as she got to the letter first , and i will indeed be taking this up with the bank .TBH, I was quite surprised that the first half-dozen or so replies were flippant, although that may be because of the OP's jokey posting style.0
