Ideally a bank for which you are already registered for internet banking etc, so that you can open the account and have it up and running almost immediately. You can then get the necessary direct debits set up while you wait for your debit card to arrive.

    Thank masonic,

So e.g tonight, I would just open another with my main acc provider where I already have these facilities, apply for FD and tomorrow arrange to redirect 2 DDs to it whilst they switch the account?

I ask because my understanding is it takes at least a few days to have the DDs set up to the new account, which means I could for e.g do a FD switch in a week or two, (but not by tonight, lol) and in any case they are not yet 'active' until one payment leaves the account iyswim.

I could change the date of DD to come out sooner (within the switch period)so that is a not an issue, but the process is mindbogglng. It's worth it but really confusing me.

Yes, and as soon as you have your account number and sort code you can start setting up the DDs. If you wait for the first payment before switching (which is advisable), you would be looking at about 8 working days to set up and pull the payment at best.

I wouldn't go rushing in and risk making a mistake that disqualifies you from getting the offer. Measure twice and cut once.

Absolutely. I am okay with missing the 150 FD deadline to get this right. It's the saver I am after tbh so I am going to put this final one together over the next week or so.

    Much appreciated:beer:

Wouldn't you need to make sure that your salary goes into your donor account too? I'm thinking of moving to M & S ?

    First Direct £125 switch offer

Clydesdale / Yorkshire Bank £150 offer

    M&S £220 offer

Co-op did recently have a £100 switch offer but I think it ended 28/2/16.

    Why would you do that?

YB/CB require 2 DDs to be switched.

There is no requirement to switch your salary. There is not even a requirement to have a salary to benefit from the offer.
