I am the same, I can't bear to think of the money I must have wasted in my life on clothes. My Mum always wanted me to look nice and encouraged me really but I have always spent a lot on clothes. People say I am always smart and have lovely clothes but we have never had any money, which I know is down to me. I give bags of stuff to charity shops, some of which I wish I hadn't later as I have to buy a navy blue top or whatever again! I also give loads to friends and when I see them in something, I think how nice that looks but if I had kept it I would never have worn it. I am trying my best to stop this, my husband does complain but then again, he feels proud that I look good. I do tend to buy bargains and mostly in sales which I kid myself saves money but I know really I spend much more than I would on one lovely thing. I have always liked quantity rather than quality.
I think I should be a personal shopper as I have a good idea what suits people. I have spent two whole days this week with my friend looking for an outfit for her as mother of the bride. I thoroughly enjoyed it and best of all, it didn't cost me anything! Well, except that on the first day I came back with a skirt and she didn't get anything! If anyone has any advice, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, I am probably just going to carry on and never learn.0 -
I do find posting on the daily spend thread quite useful - sometimes if I'm about to buy somthing I think 'ooh, but I'll have to admit this on the thread' and it makes me think twice! Doesn't always work, but it's a start!

Wow, i can't believe how much i am relating to this thread! Yes i am a shopaholic, and its really hit me over the last few days as i am going to move in with my boyfriend so have been having a big sort out. The amount of toiletries and make up etc. that i threw out yesterday, either unused or only used a little was a real eye-opener, and I know that i wouldn't be in debt now if it wasn't for my shopaholism (not sure thats a word but you know what i mean;) ). I am sorting through my clothes today but find i am very reluctant to get rid of any (my plan is to fill a charity bag but only the items that don't fit me have gone in so far, which isn't many!). As somebody said earlier in the thread, i am worried that if i get rid of something i will suddenly find i really need it and have to buy a new one!

But even though i am trying to downsize my belongings i still ended up buying a dress from topshop this morning!0 -
I got my shopping urges under control today by buying 2 books from Amazon marketplace...
one for 1p
one for 30p
unfortunately 2.75each for P&P... pah!! as from different sellers.
Still i feel like i have treated myself... should be able to resell back on amazon/greenmetropolis once read.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
