How clean is your house?

My dressing room is untidy but the rest of the house is tidy and clean. I own dogs that cast pretty heavily so I vacuum every day, dust every few days and kitchen and bathroom are cleaned on a daily basis. When you keep on top of things it's easier I find.0

I'm one of those people who clean the house from top to bottom once a week, including skirting boards, and the kitchen and bathroom in between. BUT, my cupboards can be quite messy inside. If it's behind a door, I don't worry too much about it! I also miss cobwebs sometimes. I seem to have a blind spot where they're concerned. My eldest son, who lives in London, has a cleaner, and my youngest son is one of the untidiest people on the planet. I feel sorry for his girlfriend, but at least it's not my problem any more. I thought he'd grow out of it but no such luck. It certainly wasn't learned behaviour, as I was worse about cleaning when they were young. I'm far more relaxed about it these days, but wouldn't dream of just not bothering on my usual day of the week. I also clean and wash everything just before going on holiday. I'm more or less hoovering as I walk out the door and woe betide anyone who goes to the loo after I've chucked bleach down it! Anyone else like that?0

Me! I have a housework schedule, depending on what room we're doing up at the time. We moved here 2 years ago and although everything was ok, everything needs changing and upgrading.
At the moment, we're doing the dining/family room so I don't bother touching that as there's stuff everywhere. The old utility room is an overflow for the tools/dining table/general crap so I don't bother to even clean the floor. However, the rooms that are done are cleaned every week without fail. We still have a lot of boxes from the old house to unpack, but they are mostly pictures and ornaments which we can't put anywhere yet, though they are going to be ruthlessly culled when I get to them.
We're living in half a finished house, half a house not finished, garden needs serious attention but I'm ignoring that! The bits that are finished are very clean tho, including the skirting boards (and the tops of the wardrobes!)0 -
I try to keep it fairly tidy and its clean. I couldn't live in a house like the one in that rightmove link. There's just no need to have that much mess! You can't walk in those bedrooms without tripping over something.
We just shove everything in drawers and cupboards though so we have lots of mess that you can't see!0 -

Hand me the contact details, would you....:D
Only a small house ( 2 beds, kitchen and bathroom, large hall stairs, landing) but with 3 dogs and 4 cats, very hairy and I'd let it go since my husband died. I thought it'd take two days but she did it in just over 8 hours so I paid her for 10. Very pleased.0 -
I'm useless I feel like im losing a never ending battle!
I live with my OH who works long hours so is hardly home so gets away with doing SFA most of the time
My housemate tries but he again works long hours so does what he can on his days off
I work 9-5 but leave the house at 7 don't get home till 6 or 6:30 but which time I'm normally shattered. I spend the whole weekend revising for exams that I have in April
It doesn't help that I still have hundreds of boxes left over from clearing my mums house out after she passed away. I've unpacked a fair few but I get really upset unpacking them and it stress me out so I can only do a few at a time.
Plus we have a lot of animals so they are constantly knocking stuff down or breaking into cupboards to get their treats (they are little thieves)
I hate my home most of the time but just can't seem to break the cycle as it seems it's just me cleaning 3 people's mess! I'm sick of keep asking for help because it's a waste of energy.
I am going to try and sort my room and the bathroom this weekend it really needs doing but there is just too much stuff laying about I need to do a spring clean but just can't get myself together to do it#
Mine too. I spent 4 or 5 days clearing (not cleaning) before the spring cleaner came - it was just the incentive I needed but I couldn't have managed both.0 -
Some times when im not that well, i put on a recorded program on and
when the ads come on i get up and do some thing, listen for when it

I am if the opinion, a tidy house a tidy mind!
I have a very stressful lifestyle, work full time, care for my unwell mum, am studying for a degree and gave three young children!
I cannot rest if the house it messy, cluttered or dirty! I gave a very rigid routine to keep up with the demands, especially as I'm training at the moment for several charity runs. Thankfully my partner is great at helping with the housework and childcare, and we split it all so it's not too overwhelming!
The key is to have a daily chore list, and spread out the essential housework over the week. Stick it, don't deviate and it runs smoothly!0 -

I work full time in a stressful job and get really fed up with all the mess and clutter created by having 2 teenagers, 1 almost teenager and 6 cats in the house. I try to keep on top of things when I am at home and always make sure there is no dirty crockery or laundry lying around and that the bathroom is clean. But I also have a friend who does a variety of jobs as a cleaner and I pay her to come in for a morning every week to do a general tidy up/clean up although she doesn't touch the tip that is currently my bedroom. I really appreciate the help because, its so nice to come home on a friday evening to a lovely clean house and its an arrangement which suits us both as I'm getting a clean house and she's earning herself some much needed extra cash so its a win, win situation and she's more than worth the money I pay her. I keep offering her more but she won't accept it so I try and repay her for cleaning my house in other ways instead because she is such a good friend and does such a good job!!!!loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0
