    I've been Money Tipped!
First thing I saw too. Can't help it.

Clearly spelling, grammar and punctuation are losing their value.

As is keeping to the topic.

I have to say that i feel marriage these days is more about the big day for a lot of people, they lose sight of what it should be about.

Absolutely what I think. When you see that the average cost of a UK wedding seemingly costs £15000+ it certainly is a 'big day'

I understood mikeeboy's comment and miss-independent, I salute you, you clearly think deeply and believe strongly.

My comment above about our registry office wedding (by special licence, indeed) did leave one very important part out.

We married quickly, by special licence, because I was going to be deported on 31/01/1978 because, although I had spent several visits in England with my British mother, when my fiance swept me off my feet at the age of 21 in the US, having visited my family in the UK several times as a minor, I did not realise I would need a visa to visit as an adult. I was allowed three months, Geoff Rooker, now Lord Rooker, was the local MP and managed a further three months for me. This was to allow me time to know I wanted to marry this man and be with him for the rest of my life. When the sixth month was drawing to an end, I knew I was right.

Not saying we have never disagreed - that tattoo he got in January 2014 was a huge disappointment - but, I mean, is that important enough to push off on my own? No.
