Cannot get notice of dispute removed !!!

Hi guys
So Equifax had incorrectly recorded an old savings account I had as a defaulted bank account - I disputed this and then went back to HSBC and put a notice of dispute on my account while it was investigated. They eventually apparently got a reply from HSBC and deleted the account.
They have left the notice of dispute on there which tells people to take care when granting me credit as the information under my current address is being disputed. Should this not have been removed? I've sent them 2 or 3 messages asking for it to be taken off, spent over half hour on the phone to someone who really had zero clue what I was asking him to do and said he will put a note on my account and pass it to the corrected department.
I'm not sure what else to do. I got a mortgage In principle approved before this notice went on, and I don't want it on there when I apply for my full mortgage as this could cause me a problem.
Does anyone have any advice for me, I am so frustrated !! I've never had this problem with experian. Any issues are dealt with straight away. Equifax are a totally different ball game.
Thanks guys

They are all as bad as one another. All three are liable to publish defamatory data about you and there's very little you can do about it. The worst of it is, most people adversely affected in this way don't know about it until they're unexpectedly declined for credit.0 -
Thanks, it's so frustrating. There's nothing on my Report that I'm disputing now and it's still on there. It would be a minor thing but I think I will be applying for a full mortgage within a month so it needs to be gone 0

If you are applying for a mortgage in a month's time, then you need to bring out the big guns and involve a solicitor to contact them to get them to remove it. You don't have much time left to sort this so if you don't go down the legal route, I doubt you will get it removed in time and it would definitely affect your mortgage chance when they run the full credit check.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. This a new one on me. I've only ever come across this when a linked address was disputed by the user, i.e. you, me. In that case the CRA asked the company/lender who informed the CRA of the address to review it. Then a month after the lender had reviewed it the address and the notice was removed. In my case I spotted the address when I first got my credit report in 2008. It was a London address that I left way back in 1978.0 -
Thanks all. How badly will this affect me? Will they come back to me and ask me to explain what I was disputing in the first place ? It was literally an account that shouldn't have been on the report which they have since removed.
Shouldn't this have meant the notice of dispute was automatically removed when the account I was disputing was removed? Why is this so hard to me to explain to them0 -

Now imagine you are a mortgage lender, would you want to lend thousands of pounds to someone with this notice popping up? Don't forget that when the lender runs the full search it will be manually referred because that is what happens with a notice of correction, so you'll be at the mercy of their underwriter's department who will no doubt want proof/verification what it relates to and why it hasn't been removed. Or they could just straight decline you.
Like I said, stop wasting time and seek the help of a solicitor. Equifax clearly aren't bothering to respond to you, but they will when the threat of legal action and consequential compensation is looming over their heads.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Thanks - I've just phoned them again (would really help if they were English) and they said there is a query raised already to get it removed but obviously it hasn't been as of yet. Said to wait a few more days..
The only thing the dispute says that's in my favour with underwriters I guess is that it says it's me that's disputing the information and not a 3rd party so hopefully I can explain?
If I haven't heard by the end of the week I will take it further. I'm terrified at the moment to be honest. We've had so many problems with my credit in the past that we thought would mess all this up. It would be such a shame if I fixed everything then something stupid like this that was literally no fault of my own ruined things0 -

Unfortunately that's how it is with the dysfunctional credit reporting regime currently operating in the UK. Something to consider; does your potential mortgage provider actually consult the Equifax shi t lists, or do they only bother with one or both of the other bunch of chumps? Also as mentioned, if this isn't sorted out pronto and you are disadvantaged in any way you should raise the subject of compensation with a solicitor.0 -
Thank you, I'm not sure who Halifax use? Anyone know?
I first raised the query about the account in error on 31 January - it says they'll get back to me within 30 days by email (even though they've already deleted the account) so I assume I'm still due an email resolution to this And it may include having the dispute removed.0 -
I've just read on another part of the website that Halifax use experian for mortgages - if this is actually true I may be lucky!0
