I suspect that the presence of greasy spoon cafes indicate an area that is potentially ripe for gentrification and capital appreciation.

It must be true because there was a greasy spoon somewhere down Wimbledon high street for years and when I look at house prices in Wimbledon they are very expensive.
  • I'm vegan and don't drink coffee, but I would prefer less gross chicken shops in my local area. I won't hold my breath though as I doubt where I live will ever become gentrified.:D

when i go to dixie chicken its hallah food, so if that gets changed into a cofee shop does that mean the culture is changing in the area..a bit like some places in London,
anyway best to go on the police crime stats site..you just put in your postcode :)

Apparently this is the sort of thing that happens in chicken shops.

Phillips went berserk in the Chicken King takeaway in Aberdare, South Wales, when they sold out of her favourite mixed meat kebabs...'She told them: 'F*** you, f*** off back to your own country, you f***ing c****.'

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3458325/Rabid-mother-two-bit-stranger-chicken-shop-racially-abused-staff-d-run-mixed-meat-kebabs-avoids-jail-children.html

Perhaps this is why Aberdare is the cheapest place to buy a house in Britain. Careful monitoring of the coffee shop situation in Aberdare might lead to a future buy signal. (Surely the only way is up? Although patience might be required.)

Problem with crime stats is that sometimes they simply indicate a larger population of people.

Go to nowhere's vile and you'll get low crime stats. Stand on the moon and you'll be safe as houses. Try also getting a plumber, rare widget and a fast tube to South Kensington in a hurry and you might come a cropper.

But isn't that due to the lack of chicken shops on the moon? Haven't we established the link between crime and chicken shops?

In fact, now you come to mention South Kensington, good old William Haigh, the acid bath killer, carried out his first murder at No 79 Gloucester Road. Right next door to a KFC.

    QED.

And no, I don't understand what Manx health care has got to do with either coffee or chicken shops.

    It's that second law again.

For capital appreciation right now ... a sign of significant local bustling criminal industry is to some extent a good thing if it reflects a city with a large critical mass of people with relatively cheap house prices. A good sign would be to see that rate decreasing though, whilst population is increasing.

Well that's Aberdare out the window then. I don't think starting a fight in a chicken shop counts as any kind of "industry", and what's more the population is decreasing, due to the general desire to get the fox out of Aberdare.

    House prices are cheap tho'.
