I would argue that now relativelycheap property is more sought after because of stamp duty changes, whilst benefit changes are changing the social demographics and most people even with the bank of mum and dad van very rarely afford more than 500k, therefore places with chicken shops but with quickly changing populations are a good sign of a place where to buy for capital appreciation.

Thus I conclude that the lack of chicken shops is bad news for those considering buying in an area, but that lots of coffee shops are good for those who have already bought.

And actually I can remember a time when there were no coffee shops in my local suburban shopping centre. Then someone opened a Blockbusters, and the local video rental shop closed and became a coffee shop. Then Blockbusters closed and became a coffee shop. Then someone opened a Costa, and now someone has opened another sodin cafe.

God knows where they all get their custom from. Granted there's a war memorial in the middle of the roundabout, a hardware shop, and an Oxfam bookshop, but that's the about the limit in terms of the entertainment value locally.

We have, however, never had a chicken shop.

I say there is only one hospital in the IoM, you say there isn't. I'd say that was an argument.

I don’t think your issue is with me, I think it is with the both the Oxford English dictionary who define it as a hospital (by the services that they provide), and also with the hospital itself, as they call themselves a hospital. Perhaps you should start a petition to force them to change their name. Leave me out of it though, I’ve got better things to do with my time, than worry about trivial things like that.

In my town, there are some chicken shops and coffee shops. All we need now is crossrail 2, a hotel chain of sort and we may have a full house.

You really are taking yourself too seriously. Isn't the title of this thread a big clue?

But the good news is that the one hospital in the Isle of Man does have a coffee shop. They even have a Costa style loyalty card. They do not however, appear to have a dedicated chicken shop. You will have to look elsewhere for your chicken needs.

LOL. That's rich, you are the one taking this far too seriously (nice attempt at aside step by the way, when you realised that you made a fool of yourself), I didn't even realise that we were arguing until you said so :rotfl:

    I did mention it before:
I wasn't even aware that we were arguing

You know, you really don't need to cause unnecessary hassle, I had no negative feelings about you at all, until you started acting like you did.

  • I'm a vegetarian and don't drink coffee so have no interest in such establisments.

How do greasy spoon cafes fit into the chicken/coffee equation? They sell both cheap meat and hot beverages.

I have no idea but I suspect we'll all regret that you asked.

I suspect that the presence of greasy spoon cafes indicate an area that is potentially ripe for gentrification and capital appreciation.
