A late thank you for all the suggestions but none of them seemed to do the trick...though I admit I didn't try the octopus head - was worried I'd get kicked off the plane if I started to put that on lol .....it did provide a chuckle though.0

I've now tested mine on a short haul and a long haul flight and I like the Trtl, mostly....certainly better than anything else I have tried.
I did find that, for me, it was best if it was turned perhaps a bit more to the centre than it's meant to be - so the pointy bit of the support sort of lined up with the top of my ear - my ear covered, arms crossed in front of me with a pillow under them...worked quite well.
It can be too hot for me, though...I woke up sweaty and had to take it off, but 'woke up' is the operative phrase there, I suppose.
Because of the way I wore it, headphones were possible but slightly more challenging than normal - I can't wear in-ear headphones as they cause me terrible pain after a very short time.
So all in all, I really do like the Trtl...thanks to richardw for the original suggestion.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I bought a J pillow & it was ok, nothing special really. I find it is more about your seat, window seats are best so you can lean up against them, also eye mask or sunglasses if you feel daft with eye mask & noise reducing earphones. Good luck.0

I have a J pillow and had an inflatable one before that.
I do use my J pillow not only for flights but also long journeys on trains, car or even cinema.
It is not amazing as such but does give good support and it is better than not having any pillow. It works best on a window seat with something to lean on but as I prefer aisle seat or even middle seat (feels so trapped with a window seat) this is the best I've used when there is no edge to lean on.0 -
A bit more pricey but I definitely think its worth it is Tempur Comfort Travel pillow I take everywhere with me. It is brilliant!0
