Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • I bought a J pillow with high hopes after reading the reviews, but very disappointed with it. It just didn't work for me.

Ferf please let us know if it works for you.

I also struggle to sleep on planes, have tried various pillows but havent found one that "works"

I will do. It has arrived and I will test it on the sofa to start...Vegas trip mid March will be the first proper test.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I just use one of the inflatable u shaped ones which I bought from a £ shop. Does the job in terms that it parents the nodding donkey effect. I find it's more comfortable if not fully inflated. The fact it can be deflated is a plus too as you don't have to carry a bulky pillow around the airport. Have used mine on several long haul flights, obviously nothing is as comfortable as a nice flat bed but it helps with getting a little sleep.

I find those ones very uncomfortable even partially deflated. too much behind my neck to be able to get comfortable.

As someone said earlier some people can sleep anywhere, some cant, so i think that has a lot to do with wether you will ever be comfortable with any type of pillow, but I keep trying

Mine have just arrived. The J-pillow doesn't feel any different to a normal pillow to me (I really don't understand the praise or how it won "British invention of the year!).

The Trtl gives some support, but if I rest my head to the side, my neck still strains before it catches it. Unless it's wrapped loosely (which means it slips from the optimal position easily) it feels like it's strangling me as well.

While it's a personal thing, I'm disappointed with both of them, and am definitely sending the J-pillow back and probably the Trtl.

I'm not sure, I think the trtl may be just the thing for me, and I'm a bit weird about things touching my neck, I don't feel like it is strangling me even when it's quite tightly wrapped...I have practiced on the sofa and I think with a bit of maneuvering into the right position it may be a little bit like magic. We'll see in a month or so.

Maybe I have a longer neck? I'm considering keeping it as it's better than any travel pillow I've had before, but my head falls very close to my shoulders before the Trtl supports it. I can imagine if you had a shorter neck that it would be a lot more comfortable.
