I also find it quite amusing if I go up to a till in the supermarket with two items and the cashier asks 'do you need help packing?'
I must use the self service tills more often. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
That has reminded me - when I ask my husband if he wants fish for dinner or a pork chop, if he wants a cup of tea or coffee, sausage or bacon - he replies 'I don't mind'. The reply is meant to make things easier but it actually makes it more difficult as I have to make the decision for him.
That reminds me of the Rover Management Car Plan. When ordering a new car, people used to put "Don't mind" in the colour selection box thinking that that they would get their new car more quickly. Instead, it invariably took a lot longer because the people processing the forms had to make a decision.0 -
I hate it when men describe something which is awkward, inconvenient or a nuisance as a 'ball ache'
It makes me want to kick them somewhere, and really make 'em ache!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I'd expect there to possibly be a default colour that gets chosen when people put that. The people doing the forms surely don't care so you'd think if there's no default it'd take them two seconds to tick any random box or tell someone a random colour, whatever comes to mind first.
Why would it take a lot longer, what are they messing around doing? It makes no difference to them, it's surely the easiest decision to make. If anything it could be faster because a customer may pick a colour that may not be available so soon but staff should know what's available.0 -
and while I'm here... One that I keep seeing over in the Motoring Forum - people who think the part of a car which slows or stops it is called the "break" and tell how their "breaks" are squeaking or they "breaked" to avoid a cyclist.
Or even worse, that they "broke" to avoid a cyclist!0 -

I went to a till in Sainsburys a few weeks ago with two small items. The cashier told me I'd have to use another till as it was a fast lane. The store was empty. It took her longer to tell me than it would have done to scan two items.0 -

If she doesn't allow two small items at the fast lane (and being empty I assume there was no line), what does she allow? Isn't the whole point of the fast lane that you go to it when you only have a few items?0 -
