Virgin's pricing works best as a package of tv/broadband/phone, in the long run I doubt it makes sense to keep Sky tv (depends what channels you want though). Probably a question for another forum.

I actually have this set up. Virgin for broadband and phone, and tv through Sky.

Does mean one can haggle prices each time contract comes up. I do get free virgin tivo box and basic tv package so that runs on the bedroom tv, handy to have 2 recording devices.

And overall costs the same as doing it all with one or the other.
And virgin tv does not go down when it rains, sky often does.

Incidentally I lived in a similar development where we were unable to fix anything to the walls. I had a dish set up built on a slab which was free standing in the garden, pee'd the neighbours off in the committee but nothing they could do as no rule broken.

Planning consent permitting, by the letter of the covenant quoted above, the OP could erect a pylon or tower with the dish at the top....

Been looking at Sky for our new bungalow so we can get Sky Atlantic but its showing estimated broadband speed of 17 mbs - its the dark ages.
Looks like I will be sticking with Virgin.

You can get Sky Atlantic through NowTV:

The issue is that the developers will approach all the utilities providers for quotes on pre-installing their services (with the exception of water as your water is supplieed by the local water co.).
The cheapest phone company will be the one that then gets their service ready-ducted as the roads are built.

Openreach will not be allowed onto the site to add their ducting and cabling whilst the roads remain un-adopted by the local council and under the control of the developer.

Until the roads become adopted, you are stuck with VM.

Where I live, Centrica wanted too much money to install the gas pipework, so we only have electric for heating. Costs us a fortune, but as I am not prepared to fork-out £2,000 to have my property connected (and that's without the costs of a new boiler) I am stuck with what I have.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)

You could, of course, get an LPG tank.

There is this idea that VM is always the fastest and in our area it is if you go on the Internet at 3 in the morning. In the evenings we would get about 10-12MB sometimes as low as 4. This was on a 150MB connection. We switched to Sky where we get around 38MB in the evening. I know you don't have a choice but I'm writing this for others who might choose VM assuming it's always the best broadband option. Some areas are VERY oversubscribed and you won't get anywhere near the advertised speed during normal hours.
