Agreed, the broadband would be much better with VM as it is a fibre area, but we have not long started a years subscription with sky and broadband.
Yeah but my point is, Sky BB comes through the phone line.
Which you dont have as its VM only (VM, unlike all others gets its phone through cable, not copper).
So even if you get SkyTV you will need VM for internet.0 -

If Openreach haven't put copper cables into the development, you can't get Sky Broadband or telephone. If there are only VM fibre cables, they are your only option. Openreach may have put fibre to the property (fttp), but again this will really limit your options to BT for phone and broadband as Sky don't support it.0 -

My guess is that they probably haven't, how can I find out if they have?0 -

I used the right post code and a random tel number, and these are my options.
Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.

We were able to place orders for Sky Broadband despite having no copper lines - they only fail weeks later just before the booked installation.
I also just used the broadband checker and it also shows we can get ADSL when we're a fibre only property as it tells you what your local exchange is set up for, not your individual property.
I'm afraid you'll need to speak to your developer. We weren't told we were fibre only and it took 3 months of failed installation appointments to find out why.0 -

You are in an AREA where those are available, but that doesn't mean they're available to THAT PROPERTY. Quite simply, there is no OpenReach copper or fibre string between the local BT exchange and your new house. That means that there can be no provision of any service that uses the BT last-mile cabling. Your only choice is VM and - because, unlike BT/OpenReach, VM have no competitive restrictions placed upon them - they don't have to let anybody use their cabling.
If you want Sky TV - great, assuming the property has no covenants preventing a dish.
If you want Sky broadband - sorry, you cannot physically get it.0 -
Get your self some proper Virgin BB and join the 21st century, I was getting 209mb this time yesterday on a 200mb service, you won't look back.

Incidentally I lived in a similar development where we were unable to fix anything to the walls. I had a dish set up built on a slab which was free standing in the garden, pee'd the neighbours off in the committee but nothing they could do as no rule broken.0 -

Nothing is foolproof.
My new build on Sky offers BB but it too is believed to be a VM only area.
As long as you renegotiate hard with VM each year then you can really make it cheap.
VM (and Sky for that matter) make the majority of money off a customer when they cant be bothered to switch.0 -
If there is more than one satellite dish on a block of flats, it needs planning permission.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
