So, have you a blank CD-R ready in order to create a Data CD or a VCD/SVCD from your existing video files?0

I have what the nice man in the shop told me I needed which is a Verbatim Datalifeplus DVD+R with something called Advanced Azo+0

The nice man in the shop has just sold you a blank DVD ... which you cannot currently use because you only have a CD drive to write to CD's and not DVDs.0

That's correct. I thought that you understood. You can't write to DVDs yet, only CD-R or CD-RW.
In order to burn to DVDs, you will need to purchase another piece of equipment.
Get started with CDs.
When you know what you are doing, you can purchase and install the DVD writer.0 -

THE NICE MAN MADE MY LIST
Although to be fair he may have not understood what I was going on about.
