Thursday 18th February - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi February Folk,
Just popping in for a couple of minutes. Thanks for the start La E.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Nine:
* Cold hard fact: we need a newer car. We cannot continue with the Mark One Rust Bucket as it's dangerous and unrealiable. We cannot repair the Rust Bucket. We cannot do without a car as we live in Timbuktu and the local roads are not cyclable...I'm not exaggerating...even hardened mountain bikers don't cycle our local roads on account of the hairpin bends and moon-sized craters. Local buses (a) are too expensive and (b) don't go anywhere we need to go on a regular basis. We can't move house. We can't afford local taxis. Looked at a car yesterday but I didn't like the look of Dodgy Dave who was selling it. Going to look at another this morning. This will make money very tight and kind of complicated temporarily.
* Put six DVDs on eBay and get OH to decide what other DVDs we no longer want. Also put OH's camcorder on eBay. I bought her it two years ago, it's been used a dozen times. She mainly uses the video camera built into one of her Photogr-faff machines.
That's about it. How about you guys?

Morning all

Thanks for starting the thread La E
Hope you find a new car soon Ally - I'm with you, I hate looking for cars  I confess I bought a nearly new one from a main dealer (in an effort to avoid Dodgy Dave and his mates), with low mileage and a warranty, but it was expensive
But on the plus side, I have had it for 6 years now, and it has only rarely needed anything doing to it, so has not worked out so expensive in the long run - or maybe I have just been lucky.
My list for today:
Dog walks x 2
Put stuff away in the loft cupboard that I didn't get to yesterday
Make a cake
Go through fridge to see what needs using up - probably enough for a soup!
Dismantle the chicken house to take to DDs before I weaken and buy more chickens
HM meals - need to buy a red pepper and some ginger though, for the curry I am going to make for supper
Pop into sales unit at some stage
Better get on with dog walk #1. Hope you all have a good day

Good morning everyone!
Well, I'm up and about and the sun is shining - which is good. Although I feel ok today I still didn't want to get out of bed this morning.
Plans for today are reasonably quiet.
Check banking and PAD
Relax and try not to stress
Make something with roast dinner leftovers and freeze
Blend veggie soup
Catch up on my crochet/knitting
Get out and enjoy some fresh air
Get me and the kids to the dentist this afternoon for our check up
Read through my CBT stuff and try some positive thinking
Do one survey
Think that's it - trying to make the most of my remaining time off work.
Ally I really hope that you get sorted for a car without too much stress and fuss. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning guys thanks for starting the thread La E

Quick list for me:
* Aldi's super cheap porridge made with water, a little milk and I added a kiwi for to bump up my fruit intake. Made double the portion size so have some for tomorrow
* done a load of washing & hung up
* another in the machine
* make up batch of leek & potato soup using Aldi's super 6 leeks & potatoes from sack in the garage
* stick to healthy diet. Very proud of myself I have managed (kinda) to stick to a healthier diet for a whole week - this doesn't sound like a major achievement but for me it is! Have made small changes - more fruit & veg, less fatty foods, brown rice & WM pasta, swapped over to skimmed milk - and big changes, told oh to stop buying me a cream egg or 100grms bar of chocolate at least 1/2 the days in a week
already I can see a difference (have a weirdly quick metabolism) and feels good :T
* all meals from stores
* taking dgd to visit the dogs trust this morning. Might treat her to a soft play this afternoon if I can face it...
Ok better go madam has just informed me she's "ready to go"! :rotfl:DF as at 30/12/16

Hi All
Dawn W, No chickens, a crisis of enormous proportions. How will you manage with no chickens. I gave my girls a thank you for laying reward only this morning. My lovely pullets have started laying. Admittedly they are laying everywhere, but eggs none the less. Very obliging girls. I suspect I need to get out more, make friends, etc, am eerily attached to my feathered friends.
Staying to budget. Finding it very difficult to avoid temptation, lunch out, avoided, snacks, avoided, think zero budget. Stay focused. I have a plan for my cash.
Have a good day everyone doing mse stuff.
