Slightly random question - Why do you cut crosses in the base of sprouts, and will something awful happen if you don't?

Oh, and do you still have to do it if they were frozen (from fresh)?

    ...

Finally - Do I need to defrost them do you think?

(can you guess what I'm planning for dinner tomorrow :p)

    Thanks lovelies.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I really pushed DH into retiring at 63 and we moved house not long after with a big garden that he loved. He got chickens, a summer house and a potting shed and I have never seen him so happy.

We lost him four years later due to a skin cancer that came out of the blue, was operated on and treated then came back which was very rare.

I am just so glad he had some very happy and relaxed years and knew how much we loved him. He saw older dd's wedding and we had a wedding blessing a month before he died which was a lovely day for us all.
