A lot of the "Amex pulling out" talk seems to have been inflated by bloggers that are plugging rival cards. Curve have made it clear that the relationship with Amex is strong and other have posted saying that their Curve cards work with Amex in the background.

And no I do not work for Curve.

Raffles (from Headforpoints) certainly hasn't been promoting other cards above Curve (quite the opposite in fact), yet had a personal conversation with them and is saying the exact same thing...

Did my previous posts suggest that I was pointing the finger at Raffles? Don't think I mentioned his site in any of my posts.

I know Raffles personally and can say for sure he isn't the sort of person to plug Curve's competitors like that. In fact, he posted quite the opposite over on the FT forums trying to calm people down.

You said the AMEX pulling out was "inflated by bloggers". Raffles is a blogger. Raffles reported about AMEX possibly pulling out.

Unless you're discussing something completely different claimed by bloggers that I am unaware of?

Well I'm definitely not going to start posting links to blogs if that's what you want!

On FT, Raffles calmed people down with a post to a forum. That thread was linked to in here a few posts above.

You can withdrawal up to £200 (or currency equivalent) for free using your American Express or other credit cards per calendar month after which there is a 2% charge. This limit does not apply to ATM debit card withdrawals.

In addition, there is a 50p charge after 10 withdrawals.

    Basically makes the card useless.

They've tightened up a lot then, as expected!

I wouldn't say useless - I don't have Amex but in my experience there a lot of places that don't accept it (or charge an additional fee to use it).

Even just using Curve for Amex POS should be a benefit as retailers won't be able to decline an Amex. Not as much as withdrawing hundreds a month from cash machine, but it was never expected for that to be allowed long term!

I have never come across a merchant that charges an additional fee for Amex that does not also charge an additional fee for Visa and MasterCard credit cards. A merchant that did so would be breaching Section 2(c)(iv) of the Terms and Conditions for American Express Card Acceptance.

I received an e-mail on Monday 18th saying that my card had been despatched and should be with me within a week. It has still not arrived today. What means of delivery are they using that takes up to a week to be delivered? It's implausible.

Did the email you get with your dispatch date not say it was being sent first class? Mine did, but my card hasn't been dispatched.
