Can a curve card be used for money laundering? its just a frontend for other payment cards right, so I am not even sure if those laws would apply.
I just checked Equifax credit report and have following search:

"Identity Check to comply with Anti Money Laundering Regulations" done by Onfido Limited

So they are checking against AMLR.

    Hi,

I have card ending 5162 73 old version - Was this classed as a credit card before?

Is it better to request a new card?

    Bin checker shows the following:
    BIN	516273
Issuing Bank	WIRECARD CARD SOLUTIONS, LTD.
    Card Brand	MASTERCARD
    Card Type	DEBIT
    Card Level	PREPAID
    ISO Country Name
    AUSTRALIA
    ISO Country A2	AU
    ISO Country A3	AUS
    ISO Country Number	36
    Issuers Website
    Issuers Contact

Some people had problems because the BIN used to be allocated to Westpac (https://support.imaginecurve.com/hc/en-gb/articles/214603005-A-merchant-thinks-Curve-is-an-Australian-card).

The new BIN shows the following
    Details for BIN 537590
    BIN	537590
    Issuing Bank
    Card Brand	MASTERCARD
    Card Type	DEBIT
    Card Level
    ISO Country Name
    ISO Country A2
    ISO Country A3
    ISO Country Number	0
    Issuers Website
    Issuers Contact

I'd hazard at some point the country details and issuing bank will be updated. I've had only a handful of problems (CostCo and Laithwaites) using the new card (never had the old one) with some merchants because of this.

CostCo - After talking to their Facebook team they added the BIN and I used it successfully yesterday evening :)

The old BIN begins 5162 73.

There are lots of places that accept the new cards and not the old ones.

Very few merchants will take only debit Mastercard.
What are the 'lots of places' you are talking about?
You can't use pre-paid on HMRC website. I got Curve to make payments to HMRC using my credit cards and collect points.

Initially got pre-paid card when applied at then end of Jan, but requested debit and got it a couple of days later.

Someone has been reading Head for Points.
Shall be interesting to see if the arbitrage works long term.

That's exactly how I learned about the card. Was waiting for something new to do payments to HMRC and stll earn points/miles. I will be paying VAT next week, so see how it goes. Only problem is £5000 monthly limit for new cards. Will pre-pay VAT before end of the months, so I can put amount above £5K in next rolling period.

One would assume that taking £200 cash out via curve from a CC and depositing into a current account would not be in line with their fair usage policy?

That's correct - will likely get your Curve card terminated.

It does explicitly state no cash recycling.

Got mine yesterday. While the email after sign-up said "Black- free" I actually got a dark blue one. Gave it a reasonable test today linked to my Amazon Platinum (Newday):
Wilko - now in my case if a card is going to fail it's going to be at Wilko. No problem and got 1.5% cash back instantly. First purchase so used PIN.
Sainsbury - no problem - used contactless.
    Online - again no problem
  • For those of us that signed up to Curve recently, has anyone observed anything similar to what I have, in terms of queueing?
When I registered, I was last in the queue of circa 40,000 people. Within one day I moved up more than 35,000 places; since then (and this is more than one week) I have been stuck behind circa 4,000 people.
I don't know how their queueing algorithm works but that sounds suspicious to me.

I observed something similar and reported it in this very thread:

Personally, I view it as something akin to shopping channels where urgency is the key to getting something exclusive and also a good way of getting referrals.
  • I decided to make my first payment to HMRC, since I only have £5000 limit per 30 days as new user and want to make sure I will be able to pay more than £5000 until deadline in April. I got card a month ago and started using it straight away to create history on it.

Tried £2000 and got some unknown error, tried £1500 payment and then got error page with list of potential issues. Contacted Curve and they said they modified my account to allow higher transactions. I was able to pay £2000 after that. I can see that app was updated and it's showing individual limit rather than standard limits applying to users.

I hope my limit will be upgraded to £50K because £10K annualy will be used very quickly.
