I don't find it very funny if the OP is basing their complaint on it being overseas hotel that is actually in the UK..?
Or that they genuinely think Bexley is a foreign land...! :eek:0 -
the t&cs are in their favour. The point is it was a meeting room i booked on the monday night for the following week, one of my students then notified me over the course of the night/early hours and said a family situation had meant they were dropping out - because of the situation i was not going to hold them to it, but it made it economically unsound basis the size of the class. So the very next morning i explained the situation. There is no way that between 7 o'clock he previous night and that morning I would have meant they lost business or an opportunity. So i just asked for common sense to prevail and a bit of goodwill.
If you were a regular client of the hotel and booking multiple meeting rooms over the year then perhaps some 'goodwill' might be appropriate. I suspect however this is not the case and IHG probably would have no gain against future business if they were to discount your cancellation penalty down further. If I'm wrong and you give the hotel business on a regular basis then perhaps ask if they will extend a further concessional amount as a credit to be used say within 6 months.0 -

That's what I meant! They clearly meant neither and I don't find pretending they did to be particularly funny the first time, let alone the third time. That could just be me though, we're not all wired the same!0 -
