Just received a pretty useless reply from Bosch. Says that all Bosch parts have a one year warranty. If it fails within a year you can send it back to Bosch. Supplier says "All guarantees for products are provided entirely by the manufacturers/UK importers and are subject to their terms and conditions". Why do they have a S6 with 6 year warranty, S5 with 5 year warranty etc and then just say there is a one year warranty? They did not answer the question why the S6 that they used to recommend for my car is no longer recommended.

i assumed the warranty period was as you say. but i cant find the warranty info on bosch's site.

    on ecp website:
Bosch S4 batteries carry a 4 year warranty, fully backed and supported by EuroCarParts.
Recommended for all petrol and diesel applications

    maybe a retailer warranty?

The place I got it from just has one premises. The receipt clearly states 6 year warranty. I suppose if you only ever replace batteries from people close enough to come and argue with you and fob everyone else off then it may work. I thought someone on the forum would know how it works. Either the manufacturer or the supplier takes a hit from a dead battery. Who is it?

well if the receipt says 6 year warranty then you need to chase it with the seller, they are the ones who issued the warranty and even if it's a manfacturer warranty they will need to handle the warranty for you.

They would need to explicity state manufacturers warranty for them to fob you off to the manufacturer like this. In the absense of the words manufacturers warranty they need to handle this for you.

Scan your receipt and forward it to the retailer along with a copy of the email with bosch saying they only warrant for 1 year.

I was always surprised how retailers would offer such long warranties for batteries as they can easily be worn down by improper use and anything longer than 3 years service life is a bonus. I guess it's BS to get the sale and they hope you lost the receipt and didn't keep a record of warranty anywhere - couple with te fact that if the battery goes you'll want to buy a replacement ASAP as you depend on your car. So you would have already bought a new battery so wont care for a replacement under warranty for the faulty battery.
