Bosch Battery Problem
Comments
-
I bought it because I thought it must be high quality to offer a 6 year warranty. It was also smaller and lighter. It was recommended by Bosch for my car in their catalogue. I think they recommended a S3,S4,S5 and S6. My car is not start/stop. Interestingly the S6 has now gone from the catalogue and now they are recommending a S4,S5 and S5A. I was under the impression that although it had a lower Ah and CCA rating that the AGM meant it deteriorated less with time.0

Hmmm - Could be a problem with part of the cars Electrics not disconnecting when they should do - Boot Light etc.
Disconnect the battery overnight, if when re-connected the following morning it still spins the starter motor, it's an Electrical fault, not the battery
Just about all cars under 15 years old will have multiplex wiring - so any part of the network can be keeping the whole system alive (running glow plugs, fuel pumps, air-con, etc in the background).0 -
I'll ask again, have you enquired with the manufacturer whether it's covered by the 4 year battery replacement service, and if it has a 6 year warranty have you enquired about that?0

The 4 year replacement is on an American website. Not mentioned on the UK one. The shop says that the guarantee is provided by the manufacturer but you send the battery back to them. I just imagine I'll pay the postage and then get some stupid reply.0

Try emailing them and see what they have to say contact@uk.bosch.com0

US autorities are pretty good with forcing manufacturers to sort out customers. The audi TSFI blunder was sorted in the US, Audi forced to recall and fix the piston heads. in the UK there's not obligation on AUdi to fix it. Owners have to pay £900 odd (50% discount if they have goodwill) to fix it. No doubt these will have longevity issues and crappy emissions by the time they hit the "old car" age.0 -

Just received a pretty useless reply from Bosch. Says that all Bosch parts have a one year warranty. If it fails within a year you can send it back to Bosch. Supplier says "All guarantees for products are provided entirely by the manufacturers/UK importers and are subject to their terms and conditions". Why do they have a S6 with 6 year warranty, S5 with 5 year warranty etc and then just say there is a one year warranty? They did not answer the question why the S6 that they used to recommend for my car is no longer recommended.0
