Bosch Battery Problem

Just under 3 years ago I bought a Bosch S6 AGM battery (6 year warranty) from the internet. I knew it was a risk but I do take calculated risks in life. It is now very poor and needs regular charging from my CTEK charger. I have checked the T&Cs of the internet seller and I think if I paid postage to send it back to the seller I would never see the battery again and I would get no refund. I would be told I had done something wrong, it was the alternator etc etc. Is there anywhere else I can take it ?Bosch Garage before I buy another battery prob Eurocarparts this time!

problem with doing this using an online only company, bateries cost a bomb to post and it's ususally not worth posting it back as the postage would cost you half the price of an entry level bosch s3 battery.

(plus you will have to buy another battery anyway to get you by in the interim).

bosch s6 is pretty expensive though so it might be worth it, personally I would buy 3x bosch s3 for the same price as an s6 and just replace them more frequently (3 year warranty).

This only works if you don't need the extra cold cranking power and higher capacity. (if you are a repo/police/taxi driver with lots of onboard equipment then you'd need a more expensive battery).
  • You should contact the seller though and see what they say, in the past it was possible to just take equipment to a manufacturers service centre who will take ownership of the problem and get it rectified.

I remember when I had issues with plaaystations i could just take it to a service centre on the high street and they would just fix the problem or give me a refurb replacement free of charge. Things have changed since then it seems someone on here was complaining they took heir ps4 back to the retailer and the retailer requested they pay for an engineers report at buyers exepense even though it's still in warranty.

Who's the warranty with. If it's a manufacturer's warranty then it may be an idea to contact them for a resolution.

Also, doesn't this battery come with a 4 year free replacement guarantee? https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/auto/passenger-batteries/s6-high-performance-batteries

Might be an obvious question, but does your car need an AGM battery, does it have start/stop for example?

Turn off the stop/start, buy a normal battery, i'd bet the cost of those batteries far outweighs any fuel savings you make.

bosch now have car service garages, i wonder if they'll let you just take your car there and replace the battery under warranty and change it there and then.

No. Bosch Service and Bosch Parts are different operating companies.

Are you sure it was a genuine Bosch battery, not a generic one off a pallet with Bosch stickers on?

Hmmm - Could be a problem with part of the cars Electrics not disconnecting when they should do - Boot Light etc.

Disconnect the battery overnight, if when re-connected the following morning it still spins the starter motor, it's an Electrical fault, not the battery

I would take the problem on the chin if you have ruled out a charging problem.

And next time but from a traditional retailer like EuroCarParts, ByPartsBy or German and Swedish.

Though my preferred option is EuroCarParts.

Are you sure its the battery not a slow drain from the car?

S3 and S6 is not a direct comparison. Totally different specs.
