    I'm kind of in the same situation as you - I work in a mainly seasonal job so in the winter my hours go down to about one day a week, and my b/f is studying for a phd so doesn't have any money coming in either. We tend to shop a couple of days a week - mainly because I like to get as much reduced fruit and veg as possible! I think that we tend to save money by going a couple of times a week as we don't waste anything and can get things as we need/want them.
