Does anyone know the procedure for picking up the transfer tests from the post office on the 28th? My post on Saturdays can be anytime from 10 - 12 and the postbox is at end of lane.

I know people have done it in previous years so I asked in Ballynahinch post office yesterday, but the girl said to come back another day and speak to someone else as she didn't know...
  • It's the sorting office you need to collect your post from, not your post office. Go in a few days before and put your name down to collect your post at the sorting office the morning of the results.
  • My daughter brought home the form to fill out for which schools she wants to pick. Does anyone know when last years results are announced?
I still have one more open morning next week.

Results seem to be out last Sat of Jan each year. Have a couple of weeks to submit the form. In our school we don't get the forms to fill ourselves. We have meeting with primary principal and he gives advice (after the results are out) and helps with the form. He seems to advise to put your first choice first, even if you aren't that sure about getting in as the cutoff can be different each year. Also advises to put plenty of school on form. Last year one parent insisted on putting one secondary school on. The child was not accepted as as more oversubscribed, then had to take what was left (ie the school she least wanted!)..
  • Does the Belfast Telegraph show the schools intake scores for last year, our school form has to be back to school for 3rd Feb not giving us much time to think about it.
  • We don't fill the forms in ourselves here, I already have been given my appointment for the week following the results arriving on the 28h.

I had put it out of my mind over Christmas but I'm very worried now, we attended the open morning of the grammar my other child already attended and she was obviously there doing open day things and now my son seems to think he's just going to follow in her footsteps and waltz on in there!

  • There could be some tears next week end, I don't know how my daughter will do but I know she will do well in what ever school she goes to so it's not the end of the world, just the start of a new chapter.

It does, but you should not take account of it in your selections. You simply can't predict what the figures will be this year. Just put your preferences down in order.
  • Our postman was here shortly after 10 this morning so hopefully this time next week we will all know, one way or the other!
