Virgin is well known for over subscribing their network. You say BT can't touch virgin but I regularly got 30mb at peak time on my 120mb connection. :/ Again if the OP is looking for speed he might want to check other options it might be 5 pound more but he'll be getting a consistent 80/20 all the time. :)

18:24 I have the 200mb service. Best i've ever seen is 197mb at 10ish in the morning. Usually about 140-170 is typical.

I never said it was, just poster said it couldn't be touched by anything using the BT infrastructure, when it clearly can. Also not so limited if you pay for FTTP on demand (will cost an arm and leg though).

Of course, I apologise for missing it off (although it is over £100 a month and requires usually significant installation/costs which is why I discarded it).

Yes virgin is expensive. And they put their prices up yearly.

It used to be the case that BB & phone line with line rental paid up front (for a year) was the same price as BB alone. Something for you to check/consider.

Yes the instalation costs are expensive, but I'm pretty sure it only costs around £50 a month.
Also BT are soon looking roll out Fibre to the node (to duct or pole outside your house). That will increase speeds to around 500Mbps to 1Gbps.

Zen - £116 a month with line rental or £112 a month without.

That was the only one I could easily find a price for - the others have prices, but the installation charges are like a BMW options list - they have so many bolt on charges for installation it could run into the 100's to even get installed.

As for BT rollout, I'm sorry, but they cant even get 5mb to new builds (I've declined three new estates lately because the internet is sub 1mb and where its 5mb the cabinets are over subscribed for fiber.

Basically OR and BT are a complete mess when it comes to moving forward - they take so long to upgrade the network they get 5% in and newer tech has replaced it and they decide to start again!

I agree, I would never move to anywhere without Virgin now.
