Is this the 'Aberdeen effect' spreading out over the rest of the country?
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Is the stand out monthly rise 3% in Yorks & Humb? Not the highest for the month but notable I think.

Inner London asking prices have gone up 60 grand in a single month.

    That's mental!!

And no wonder they are having to increase HTB to 40% in London. The typical FTB home has increased by 22% in the last year alone.

It may well be pure conincience, but looking at the asking prices graphs, they took off as soon as HTB was announced. They were rising before this, but at a much muted pace.
  • One day this country will realise we need to build a few million more houses.

I won't hold my breath that it'll happen any time soon though.

The RTB place I could've bought in the nineties just South of Tower Bridge has increased in price 10x since I walked away chuntering about mental London prices.

The tenant would've paid the mortgage for me too.

Nothing much shocks me anymore whether it's Londoners being consistently mad for it or February being reclassified as Spring because of global warming.

the population of london is rising by about 100,000 per annum
the new building doesn't even keep pace with the new population and so prices will continue to rise

we need to build more and stop un-necessary growth in demand by stopping immigration.

The RM index is pointless. It's based on asking prices. Stick to the Nationwide, Halifax and Land Registry.

On the contrary, it's a fantastic indicator of sentiment. If sellers are bullish on the housing market they price themselves appropriately.
