have you run the system clean and deleted temp file , and clicked on advance and cleaned system files
when those are done , return with the figure then
Doing everything now, see last post.

Couldn't switch off hibernation - in the command prompt I got a message saying not a recognised command.
Have done the pagefile thing, laptop now restarting though it's gone into running nine updates.
easiest way is probably go into the power options, and set the machine never to sleep or hibernate, tell it to shut down when you close the lid or press the power button.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

you have removed the 5 yrs worth of "windows backups" and restore points , and (machine = 2011) checked that you have not got a copy of win 10 sat waiting to be installed ?
Removing the restore points now - gosh, it's slow going!
Getting through the list.0 -

After removing restore points and updates I've now got 31.5gb free of 91.2gb HUGE difference!
I've also run https://windirstat.info/ and got:
C drive = 60.3gb
Windows = 31.6gb
and everything else moves from 8.6gb down to little numbers of mb.
Freeing up space may just help!0 -
ok start looking at those 8.6g files , we are talking about files not directories
also
explorer / c: drive , windows/ temp delete all
users (user name) appdata /local/temp delete all , although that folder will be hidden and you will have to set task bar view hidden folders
then run system cleanup and run defrag , if the machine is slow at booting , you might want to see what is starting as it fires up , you use msconfig for thisSave a Rachael

Thanks - I'll go back to it shortly - just running the Samsung Magician software which indicates another 58 mins. Figures from that (whilst running) suggest that the SSD is 128GB (119GB) - no idea why there is a discrepancy - and then has two 'barrels' one saying Free space 30GB and the other Used space 61GB.
Where's the rest?0 -
another thing you can look for is any mp4 or avi films that are stored , explorer / c: search *.mp4 and *.aviSave a Rachael
