There is another easy way to tell which meter you have OP.

On an old imperial meter there will be 4 numbers to read.
On a metric one there will be 5.

Interesting posts, have been following them.

But think you guy's are now wasting your time?

OP is not listening, he appears fixated it is the new gas boiler?

Would have liked to know about meter etc as well

If it is the boiler, he needs to get it checked and also gas supply in/to property, I would think? as it does appear there is a problem!

Yes, I said that on Wed - it's his modus operandi.
  • Got it. Thank you everybody for your replies, I think I have now got the message. One of the problems has been that with online billing I have been unable to find out anything relating to the old meter but my supplier has now sent it to me.
The readings I have recorded are actually 100 ft3 not ft3 as I was thinking. so now it makes sense if I use the correct multiplier (2.83 not 0.0283) so my 12 months usage comes out at 486 100s cu ft not 835.
Many thanks to all who replied (both polite and those not so)

Has your bill now dropped as your boiler installer predicted?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • As I pay by same amount each month it takes time to work it out, but it seems to be a reduction of 22% over the 8 months in question.
