I use my tablet for streaming video using my Chromecast. This is usually whilst my daughter is watching YouTube in HD

....I had 3 streams running via wireless the other day without buffering - Youtube via Chromecast, I Player (in HD) on a PC and Sky Go on a tablet - and I only have 16 Mb, so can't see where your problem with "only" 38 Mb is.:)

EDIT -Rereading your original post -it could be a setting on the router - I have a TP-Link router and a mixture of 11g and 11n devices; found when setting up that I had to change its mode to "bg only" as when set on "bgn" mode it halved the wireless connection speed!

Glad I didn't pay more for 76mb fibre as it seems I'd need to use Ethernet to make full user of the speed. I now question why anyone needs Virgins 100mb or 200mb service.

...the only real way to make full use of such fast connection speeds is to use gigabit switches and hard wired connections altho' I know someone on Virgin who is getting (almost )their full available speed via Homeplugs.
  • TalkTalk supplied another HG633 router but speeds no different.

Thinking of running cat cable to use on laptop. Wish there was another way to improve speeds on my WiFi devices

Move to 5Ghz instead of 2.4ghz? If your distance is not an issue.

There should be no issues streaming to 2 devices at the same time.

can your wi fi devices SEE the 5ghz? band?

if not , nothing you do apart from connecting by Ethernet will improve them
