Passport photo experiences

Ok Keep pedalling. I broke out the old 550. popped on the 24-105, and then managed to find a bit of bland wallpaper on the stairs for Wife and I's shoot. Cropped result to vaguely similar to the guide. Now, how do I actually get the correct size?
Gimp alledgedly is giving me a 45mm by 35mm resizing, but I'm blowed if I can export it back to the desktop.
Any ideas.
By the way, details received by the Passport office at nine this morning. Presumably, a few days for somebody to actually look at the application!

A quick bit of faffing about has revealed that "Paint", using the resize tool may be the answer. Will wait till tomorrow before attempting a print.

I'll just relate our complete experience in case there may be useful info for anyone monitoring this post.
Both new passports received same delivery, two weeks and four days after applying. That included presumably, some delay while we obtained acceptable pictures of my wife.(Glare through her specs on the initially sent pictures probably the problem, although they looked alright to us. Spec wearers, just have your pics taken without them on.) We paid nine quid at a local photo shop for six pictures for her. The guarantee being, retaken for up to a year, if not accepted by the Passport Office.
My old pictures must have been ok. I have to say, on the new passports, the pictures look a lot less distinct than the old.
We applied some seven months before the old ones expired, but the new ones have included that seven months, in effect they are ten years and seven month passports! We paid the six quid to get our old passports back.
Hope this info may be of some use to anyone pondering a renewal.
