Search the Web and Windows stopped working on Windows 10

When I click onto search the web and windows on my PC on windows 10 nothing happens. It has just stopped working. How can I correct this issue please.

Define stopped working? Crashed? mouse still moving? can you use everything else?

Recently upgraded? Is it downloading updates?

Do you mean the little box on the bottom left ?? That says search the web and windows.

Mouse moves, everything else on my PC works normally. Search the web and windows which appears by the tool bar when I click nothing happens everything else on the tool bar works. I think it the problem is with the windows 10 program rather than the PC itself.Yes it is the little box on the left that says search the web and windows

Click box and settings icon should show .

I have exactly the same problem. The little box on the left saying search the web and windows stopped working 3 days ago and I have not been able to rectify. I tried the settings solution mentioned above but that did not rectify the problem. Any other ideas please.

Sounds like Cortana has gone into a sulk.

This is a persistent fault in Win 10 for many.

I upgraded but ran into this issue so went to 8.1 instead.

I'll try again in a couple months when hopefully Microsoft have finally sorted this out.

I have tried left clicking on my mouse on the little window besides where it says "search the web and windows" and it appears to be frozen as nothing happens. I am no"Techno" so what is the best way forward. Do I stay with Windows 10 and what should I do to repair so it works. Otherwise should I use another windows program. If that is the case what should I use and how in easy to understand explanation do I accomplish this task.Obviously I do want to leave it as it is now as it is no good at all. I am sorry to sound an idiot but any simply advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank You
